Open stable housing is generally well-suited for Connemara ponies as they are a hardy breed that can adapt to various living conditions. The open design allows for good ventilation and natural light, which are important for the health and well-being of the ponies. Additionally, the freedom to move around and socialize with other ponies in an open stable environment can help prevent boredom and promote overall mental and physical health. However, it is important to provide adequate shelter and protection from the elements to ensure the ponies are comfortable and safe. **

Shearing in open stable housing is typically done by bringing the sheep into a designated shearing area within the stable. The sheep are then restrained using a shearing stand or other equipment to keep them still during the process. The shearer uses electric clippers to carefully remove the wool from the sheep's body, starting from the belly and working their way up to the back and sides. Once the shearing is complete, the wool is collected and the sheep are released back into the stable. **

Active stable housing for horses refers to a system that allows horses to have constant access to a paddock or pasture, while also providing them with shelter and protection from the elements. This type of housing allows horses to move freely between the shelter and the outdoor space, promoting natural movement and social interaction. It also helps to reduce stress and behavioral issues in horses by allowing them to exhibit natural behaviors such as grazing and socializing. Overall, active stable housing is designed to mimic the natural environment of horses and promote their physical and mental well-being. **

Shearing in open stable housing is typically carried out by securing the sheep in a holding pen or chute to keep them calm and still. The shearer then uses electric clippers to carefully remove the wool from the sheep's body, working methodically to avoid causing any harm to the animal. It is important to have proper lighting and ventilation in the stable to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both the sheep and the shearer. Additionally, the wool is collected and stored for processing after shearing is complete. **

In this case, box housing may not necessarily be so much worse than open stable housing. Box housing can provide individual shelter and protection from the elements, and can also allow for better monitoring and care of each horse. Additionally, box housing can help prevent injuries that may occur in open stable housing where horses have more freedom to move around and potentially get into accidents. However, it is important to ensure that box housing allows for enough space for the horse to move around and socialize, as well as access to outdoor areas for exercise and grazing. **
